On behalf of our Superintendent Linda Curtis:

I would like to inform our school communities about a Program Area Review involving the William Lyon Mackenzie CI southern cluster of schools.  The review of student programs and accommodation pressures will include the following schools:  Dublin Heights E&MS, Faywood ABC School, John Polanyi CI, Ledbury Park E&MS, Summit Hts PS, and William Lyon Mackenzie CI.

A Program Area Review is a Trustee-approved process undertaken when changes to the grade configuration of a school (excluding changes to grade configurations of French Immersion or Extended French programs and programs for students with exceptionalities); and the establishment of new schools or new specialized programs are being considered.

Please note that school closures are not part of the scope of this or any Program Area Review.

A single review will occur to review both the elementary and secondary topics listed below at the same time.  This review will seek public input about proposed complex changes to elementary school:

  • program
  • grades
  • boundaries

The review will also seek public input about a proposed secondary school boundary change.

A PART includes parents, secondary students, Principals, the Superintendent of Education(s), other central TDSB staff, and the Trustee(s).  It reviews and analyzes the information provided by central TDSB staff; communicates with the larger community and staff; considers options and their implications and makes recommendations which are based on consensus.

Final decisions regarding any changes are made by the Board of Trustees.

Community voices are an important part of this process and I hope that you will be able to actively participate as a community member.  Please go to http://www.tdsb.on.ca/About-Us/Strategy-Planning/Search-All-Reviews?id=156  for the latest information about the review and public meeting dates.

Sincerely,

Linda Curtis

Superintendent of Education – LN12
